A shop owner was caught on film dumping bags of rubbish in a quiet backstreet. And when challenged by town hall officers about how she would feel if someone fly tipped outside her premises she replied "I would complain to my council".

Ramila Sanghani, 60, pulled up in her blue Mercedes in Cambridge Street, Salford, near Strangeways. Salford council CCTV cameras caught her unloading six bags of decorating waste and plaster from her own home.

Sanghani, of Premier Food News and Wine, Eccles Road, Swinton, pleaded guilty to illegally dumping waste contrary to section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 when she appeared at Manchester and Salford magistrates court.

She was fined £586, ordered to pay £1,194 costs and a victim surcharge of £59. The court heard that at 12.14pm on Friday August 14th 2020, Salford Council’s CCTV team saw the driver of the Mercedes illegally dumping the rubbish.
