Idris Elba has slammed claims that he was paid to say he tested positive for coronavirus, hailing the rumours as ‘absolute bulls**t’. The Luther actor announced that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19 on 16 March, making him one of the first celebrities to be struck down by the disease.
Several days later, his wife Sabrina Elba confirmed she also had coronavirus after deciding to quarantine with the actor. Rumours have since swirled that Idris, 47, was lying about his diagnosis and had actually been paid to say he had Covid-19, while others have criticised the fact he was able to get a test quickly without showing symptoms.
