Paul Burrell has found a new outlook on life since going through treatment for prostate cancer. The I'm A Celebrity: South Africa star, who was diagnosed with the disease late last year after a medical check for the pre-filmed show flagged up heightened levels of PSA [prostate-specific antigen], shared his journey with OK!
for his exclusive at-home shoot. The 64-year-old told us: "In my mature years I’m fine-tuning my life in a way, to appreciate every single day that arrives. “I want to experience life to the fullest.
I’ve had two, maybe three lifetimes already and I just keep going. I’m living my life for those loved ones we have lost too soon [Paul’s voice begins to crack] who would love that extra day." He continued: “I’m getting emotional, because it’s the hormone therapy kicking in, but I always think about my mum who was only 59 when she passed and the Princess who was only 36 and I have to live that extra bit for them.” Following his diagnosis after an MRI and a biopsy upon returning home from the jungle, Paul underwent 15 sessions of radiotherapy, a Brachytherapy operation and is continuing hormone therapy.
And although he won’t find out if the cancer has completely gone until October, medics are confident the treatment has worked.
