A cyclist who was 'not very far from death' was saved after two cars stopped to help and air ambulance medics performed surgery at the roadside.

Jon Hill, from Macclesfield, was riding his bike on his 'favourite route' through Bollington in August 2022 when he crashed into a cattle trailer.

Luckily, two couples in cars spotted the 62-year-old after the accident and called 999. An air ambulance was dispatched by the North West Air Ambulance Charity and medics had to make an incision into his chest at the side of the road to drain excess fluid.

The dad-of-one has since miraculously recovered and volunteers for the charity which helped save his life. Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. Jon, a project manager, has also remained friends with the strangers who rescued him and even celebrated with them on the one-year anniversary of the accident.
