Asda's redesigned savers range came under fire yesterday for 'embarrassing poorer families' due to the colour and product design.
Some shoppers claimed the bright yellow packaging stands out too much, and gives "poverty markers" to customers walking about with the produce in their basket.
However, others praised supermarket bosses for the bright and bold aesthetic, arguing that redesign is an improvement on the drab and nondescript packaging of the previous Smart Price range.
One such fan is Mirror journalist Danielle Kate Wroe, who decided to put the products to the test by picking up a selection of the new range to try out for herself.
