It's a town which regularly features in lists of Britain's "best" towns and "happiest" places to live. But did that mean I'd be able to have a lovely day out there with £20?
I was cautioned by my friends and family that it was an expensive place before I left — a warning I now regret not taking seriously.
My first mistake was probably parking in a multi-storey car park instead of a public one where I would have only needed to buy a parking disc.
But with a packed schedule and limited time every minute counted. I had assumed that Harrogate, like many other towns, would provide a park and ride service but after extensive research it became clear it did not.
