I spent a small fortune in UK town with award-winning food and left with no regrets

The UK is filled with brilliant, beautiful towns packed with history and things to do and discover. Pateley Bridge is one such example and Samantha Teasdale of Yorkshire Live was tasked with exploring it for herself... Usually, I'm quite prudent with my finances, but the moment I set foot on the streets of a North Yorkshire town brimming with food, my bank account was in jeopardy.

Nestled between Harrogate and Ripon, we navigated through winding roads to reach the quaint market town of Pateley Bridge. Renowned for its award-winning food and beverages, it was fortunate that we had a light breakfast and I had just received my paycheck.

I anticipated an expensive - albeit delicious - day ahead. The first unavoidable expense, as always, was parking at the Southlands short stay car park, which cost £1.40 for a maximum stay of 4 hours.

This seemed like a steal for such a lengthy duration. Upon exiting the car park, we immediately spotted The Oldest Sweet Shop in England right across from us.
