'I sold my PS3 and PS4': Worried mum says son had to sell games consoles due to the rising costs of energy

A cash strapped mum from Wigan says her son has had to sell some of his game consoles so he doesn't have to ask for pocket money due to the rising costs of energy.

Speaking on Sky News, families and businesses reacted with despair to the energy price cap hike and viewers heard how Brandon Dempsey from Wigan has sold his games consoles including his PS4 and PS3 to help his mum, Amy, with the rising cost of living.

So you have pocket money now, he has sold some of his stuff - so you don't have to ask us a much for money." Brandon agreed and told the Sky interviewer, who asked him what he had sold: "My PS3 and my PS4" The typical household energy bill will hit £3,549 a year from 1 October, regulator Ofgem has announced, throwing many households into fuel poverty.
