One woman has hopped on the Vinted train and made a significant stack of cash, however, she was selling something you would not expect to find on the clothing re-sale app.
Book fiend and “avid reader”, Chloe Bennet, made £2,300 on Vinted selling books. Flogging her entire home library of over 400 books including first editions and signed copies, she has now fully transitioned to using a kindle, waving goodbye to her bookshelves of “friends.” She told Manchester Evening News: “I was sad to sell all those books, they were like my friends and the process of listing them was long.” But, the thousands Chloe made went towards a period of travelling.
The entire process took about six months, with Chloe slowly saying goodbye to a lifetime’s accumulation of books. She said these were “Mostly fiction, some rare editions, and a mix of hardbacks and paperbacks.” The paperbacks sold for an average of £3-£5, and hardbacks for £7-£12 but she said the prices “varied quite a bit.” Chloe also had an array of special editions and signed copies up for grabs.
She said: “Some books went for more—first editions and collector’s items did especially well. She also sold a first edition of "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón for £40 and a signed copy of a Haruki Murakami book for £75.
