Davide Imuetinyan, 19, and Benjamin Ankers, 18, are standing trial at Manchester Crown Court where they deny arson with intent to endanger life.
Prosecutor Matthew Curtis told a jury the pair bought petrol and went together to the address of Elvis Azeta on Bordale Avenue in Moston on the night of 5 September, 2019.
