Ian Hamilton, the programme’s original producer, has opened up about some of the initial thoughts when the programme - co-hosted by Ant and Dec - first started in 2002, and they included going without a dunny so that the stars would have to do their business in the Australian jungle.
He said: "The original plan called for no lav. The idea was that they’d go off into the bush, 100 yards away and do their thing. “It would have been quite edgy. ” However, their plan was squashed by the local authorities who had concerns about what it would do to the community.
