Joanne Cassanova had struggled with her size for many years. She would binge eat, gorging on sweets and crisps. At the time she thought she was giving herself comfort, which stemmed from unresolved trauma she experienced as a child.
In reality, she was making it worse. The 52-year-old, from Beswick, tipped the scale at 17st 11lbs and was a dress size 24 in July 2024.
But by following a food plan and making changes to her diet, the mum-of-one managed to shed a stone in just five weeks. The cleaning manager had been advised to join a weight loss group after going to her doctor for a routine blood test. Joanne says her weight loss so far has had a huge impact on her physical and mental health, giving her a newfound "confidence" in herself.
