A drunken 'monster' held a meat cleaver to his former partner's neck, threatened to kill her and told her to be 'submissive', a court heard.
Rodney Akomas forced his former partner to kneel in front of him and apologise after she told him she could not live with him anymore.
He then repeatedly slapped her and told her: “I’ll kill you. I’m a dangerous man. I want you to respect me, I want you to be submissive.” The frightening ordeal was brought to an end when she managed to alert the neighbours by screaming, the Liverpool Echo reports.
They ran to her rescue, kicked the door down and found Akomas holding her aggressively over the sink with the knife above her.
