From Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez to Taylor Swift and Matty Healy, it truly has been a summer of break-ups. Relationship expert Tina Wilson says celebrities face particular strains when it comes to keeping a marriage alive. “They’ve got the world’s attention on them and that adds fuel to the fire,” she explains. “If there are any issues within their relationship that have somehow got leaked out to the public, it exacerbates it. "Both parties may feel that there’s more pressure on them to act.” Holding a grudge is never a positive thing, says Tina, founder of dating app Wingman. “If you do split, it’s important that your feelings are heard but you don’t continually throw it back in their face,” she advises. “Focus on having a healthy relationship with yourself.” But not all splits are sour, as Beccy Dickson and her ex-husband Macey Mitchell have proved.The pair, who parted at the end of 2021 and have three children, had been together for 21 years and married for eight.

Here, she explains why they get on so well despite no longer being a couple... “We split up while we were away in Portugal. It was literally decided over a coffee – he swapped rooms with my daughter that very day. “We had gone on holiday as a family in December 2021, but with Omicron cases increasing in the UK and Portugal imposing a post-Christmas lockdown, we decided to stay put.
