Police and paramedics descended on Meldrum Street and Villa Road at around 11.30am to reports of a dog attack. The child was rushed to hospital with serious injuries that are described as life-changing, with another woman, 31, also left injured amid the chaos.
An eyewitness who rang 999 and alerted the emergency services to the incident said the dog had followed the boy, who was on his bike at the time, and that he heard screaming as it began 'jumping all over him' and 'gripped onto his arm.'
