Alex Gogic’s booming header in the 71st minute was enough for Stephen Robinson’s men to secure the victory on Saturday in the driving wind and rain – which didn’t allow for the most spectacular of encounters in all honesty.
But the afternoon saw the Buddies get back to winning ways after the 3-0 defeat against Celtic before the winter training camp in Spain.
And the reward for beating Queens was a last-16 date next month with Brendan Rodgers' Bhoys. Richard Taylor and Toyosi Olusanya missed out through suspension while Ryan Flynn dropped to the bench.
