Hunt for rapist who attacked woman, 30, as she walked alone down footpath in daylight

A 30-year-old woman was raped while walking along a footpath. Police said the woman was approached from behind by a man in Riverside Court, Livingston at 5.45pm on Wednesday.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 20s, around 5ft 9in and of slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, and a black shiny puffer-style body warmer.

He ran off in an eastward direction following the attack. Police are appealing for a male cyclist who may have been in the area at the time to contact them.

Detective Inspector Craig Higgins said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and we are doing everything we can to provide her with all the necessary support she requires at this time. "Officers have been searching the
