A prisoner is on the run after escaping while on the way to hospital. Steven Ross was being escorted from HMP Addiewell to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at around 5.20pm on Wednesday when he fled.
Members of the public are advised not to approach the 33-year-old but to contact police immediately. It is understood staff were threatened by the prisoner but there were no serious injuries.
Police said they believe Ross has links to the Greater Glasgow area. He is white, 5ft 9in and of slim build. He has dark brown hair with a distinctive tramline cut.
He was last seen wearing a dark jumper and shorts, and Nike trainers with a lime green sole. He is also believed to have a blue three-quarter length jacket.
