Hundreds of people have attended a memorial service for an asylum seeker who was found dead next to her starving child. Mercy Baguma, 34, was found dead in her flat in Govan, Glasgow, on August 22 with her 16-month-old son Adriel crying in his cot in a blood-soaked babygrow.
Eric Nnanna, the baby's dad, had been with Mercy for three years and alerted police when he was unable to get hold of her after several attempts.
The dad believes Mercy died four days before her body was found and said it was a "miracle" his son survived, the Daily Record reports.
More than 100 people attended a candle-lit memorial service held at Elder Park Boating Pond, in the city's Govan area yesterday, to coincide with Mercy's burial in Uganda.
