Hugh Grant is not holding his tongue, clapping back at Piers Morgan after the former Good Morning Britain presenter dubbed him a 'hypocrite' over his stance on media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
With the government recently dismissing the idea of restarting the Leveson Inquiry—which Hugh had been advocating for—the actor took to BBC Radio 4 on Friday morning with some choice words: "I have some sympathy, when I'm in a generous mood, for politicians terrified of the Murdochs." After the clip went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), Piers couldn't resist chiming in: "REMINDER: Hugh Grant took many millions of pounds from Rupert Murdoch to make movies for him. #hypocrite," he commented, retweeting the interview snippet.
But Hugh was quick to set the record straight on the platform, delivering a sharp retort: "Bulls**t.The last time I worked for a Murdoch owned company was in 1994," he declared. "Which was long before I knew anything about his papers' methods.
Since then I have turned down every single job offer emanating from a Murdoch owned company." Back in 2012, Hugh settled a claim against NGN relating to unlawful information gathering at the News Of The World.
