Huge fire at Cumbernauld industrial estate as three articulated lorries in flames

Three articulated lorries burst into flames at a Scots industrial estate.Fire crews were called to Westfield Industrial Estate at Deerdykes Road in Cumbernauld at around 6:15pm this evening, Sunday, April 21.

It is understood the alarm was raised after thick black plumes of smoke billowed into the sky. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

There were no casualties but the Scottish Fire and Rescue remain at the scene and are working to 'ensure the area is safe.'Video footage shared on social media showed the extent of the blaze.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.15pm on Sunday, 21 April to reports of a fire affecting three articulated lorries near Westfield Industrial Estate, Cumbernauld."Operations Control mobilised two appliances to make the area safe and crews remain at the scene."There are no reported casualties."
