Huge blaze on double-decker bus closes Scots road as smoke billows above Fife

A Scots road has been shut down after a huge blaze broke out on a double-decker bus. Firefighters raced to the incident on the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing in Fife after receiving the alarm at 2.40pm today.

Four fire engines scrambled to the scene as crews worked for nearly two hours to put the flames out. Dramatic images show the vehicle lit up in flames on the side of the road while huge pockets of thick smoke can be seen blowing across the Kingdom.

There were no reported injuries.Firefighters left the scene at 4.10pm after successfully putting the flames out. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.34pm on Monday, November 28 to reports of a bus on fire between Crossgates and Fordell on the B981.

Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and crews quickly extinguished the fire. "There no reported casualties and firefighters left the scene once ensuring the area was made safe." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 2.40pm on Monday, November 28, we were called to a report of a bus on fire on the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing.
