Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit many people have heard of or read about, but may not be sure who it can help or how to apply.
The biggest misunderstanding around PIP is that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will only award the benefit to people with outwardly visible physical, long-term health conditions or disabilities.
However, PIP is a benefit aimed at providing support for people with an ever-evolving list of 'hidden' conditions, including stress, anxiety and depression.
The latest figures from the DWP show that a total of 279,067 Scots are claiming PIP - receiving either one or both of the components for daily living and mobility, or a combination of the two.
