There was a time when a multi-million pound deal involving Rangers would’ve been the stuff of dreams on the park for budding footballer Tom Beahon.

Pulling on the light blue jersey of the Ibrox side would have been a huge step up from trying to get into the first team of lowly Tranmere Rovers.

But instead Steven Gerrard ’s stars could be pulling on HIS shirts next season in a journey even more remarkable than if the former midfielder had made the switch from Prenton Park to Rangers as a player.

Tom and brother Phil, who featured for Liverpool and Manchester City schoolboys before turning his attention to cricket where he played semi-pro, gave up on their sporting dreams to found premium sportswear brand Castore.
