Manchester United are the Premier League’s most dominant team, by some margin. However after dominating most of the 1990s and first decade of the new millennium, the last few years have been a struggle.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, five men have occupied the Old Trafford dugout, either as permanent or temporary manager: David Moyes; Ryan Giggs; Louis van Gaal; Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
In that time, the club has achieved a best finish of second in 2017/18. But that’s been their only top-three finish, with other seasons seeing them finish in seventh (2013/14), fourth (2014/15), fifth (2015/16), sixth (2016/17) and sixth (2018/2019).
