How infection rates in Greater Manchester compare with the rest of England as Bolton drops to second highest

The figures show how infection rates in Greater Manchester compare to the rest of the country as the rate in Bolton, which last week had the highest rate in the UK, drops below Blackburn with Darwen.

Two thirds (67 per cent) of local authorities have seen rates rise in the last week - that's 211 out of 315 areas, while 96 areas (30 per cent) have seen a fall.

The rates for the remaining eight areas remain unchanged. Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire now has the highest infection rate in the UK, with 653 new cases in the seven days to May 28 - a rate of 436.2 cases
