Click inside to check out the numbers… HBO has announced that 9.986 million viewers tuned in for the series premiere on Sunday night, making it the largest audience for any new original series in the history of the network.

The viewers are across linear and HBO Max platforms in the U.S. The network notes that typically, “Sunday night viewership for a HBO series will represent just 20%-40% of the show’s total gross audience.” In comparison, the premiere episode of Game of Thrones had just 2.22 million viewers in 2011. Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer of HBO & HBO Max, said, “It was wonderful to see millions of Game of Thrones fans return with us to Westeros last night.
