Hospital apologises after giving OAP's body to family of 21-year-old crash victim

A grieving uncle arrived at a morgue to collect the body of his 21-year-old nephew – but bungling hospital officials gave him the corpse of an 80-year-old woman instead.

The farcical error took place in Cheng'an County, China, last week – and was not discovered until the eve of the funeral. The real body of motorbike crash victim Cheng Guaiguai had to be dug up after the old woman’s family had buried it two weeks earlier.

Cheng Guaiguai's uncle, Cheng Yahong, told local media the morgue made the error despite charging £1,100 to store the corpse before his funeral.
