The incident took place around 5.15pm on Thursday, September 17 on the unnamed rural road to Armadale, from the B8028 at Avonbridge.
It involved a horse and its rider, along with a blue Land Rover. Sadly, as a result of its injuries, the horse has had to be euthanised.
A second horse and rider were uninjured. It is believed that the horse was startled by an overtaking vehicle which loudly revved its engine, causing the collision.
The car in question is described as being similar to a Ford Fiesta ST, orange in colour, with a black spoiler.
