Horror fans hail ‘The Monkey’ popcorn bucket as “best design yet”

The Monkey has been revealed and people are calling it the “best one yet”.The movie is the latest from director Osgood Perkins, the creator of 2024’s breakout hit Longlegs, and stars Severance’s Adam Scott, The White Lotus’ Theo James and Elijah Wood.The film is based on a 1980 short story by Stephen King and tells the story of a vintage toy monkey with mysterious powers to trigger horrifying deaths.

It is released to cinemas on February 21.Now, the movie’s signature popcorn bucket design has been unveiled – a depiction of the titular creepy monkey holding its drumsticks, with the drum itself serving as the bucket.

Other films to get into the act in recent months include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Terrifier 3 and Alien: Romulus.The US cinema chain Cinemark launched their own Bring Your Own Popcorn Bucket promotion last month, with one patron taking it upon themselves to bring an entire nightstand of buckets to fill.In a four-star review of the film, NME has said: “The Monkey is produced by James Wan, the director who brought us the Saw franchise – a series of films all about finding inventive ways to dismember human beings.
