A horrifying video has emerged showing a gang of thugs appearing to attack a helpless man as he frantically tries to escape from his car.

Footage, seemingly filmed by one of the assailants, shows six men jumping out of two cars that had cornered the victim as he drove his Volkswagen in Accrington.

The gang then assaulted the defenceless man with hammers and a baseball bat while he was still in his car. The shocking incident occurred around 8.30am on Wednesday (November 6) as children were walking along Wordsworth Road to Mount Carmel Catholic High School.
