A homeless man who set up a makeshift camp in north Manchester has been asked remove his tent and belongings, council bosses have said.
The large blue tent was erected on waste land off Carisbrook Street in Harpurhey a number of weeks ago. It is surrounded by bags of clothing, fridges and shopping trolleys and other items.
Rumours refugee families were living in the camp have been circulating in the area. But in fact the tent was occupied by a single homeless man. The man has now been asked to remove the tent and has been offered support and alternative accommodation, a Manchester council spokesperson said.
