direct to your inboxA homeless couple have been jailed for torturing a man with a hot iron after he let them stay in his flat.Michael Rowbotham, 44, and Natalie Wightman, 39, tied up their victim's feet and wrists with a belt before using weapons such as an iron, a lighter, a hammer and a knife to injure him.Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard how the couple, who were both addicted to drugs, burnt the man's feet, slashed his knee caps and pressed a hot iron to his cheek.In a victim statement, the man said he is now too scared to leave his house, and has permanent scars etched across his body which act as a constant reminder of his ordeal.The victim had allowed Rowbotham and his girlfriend Wightman to stay at his flat in.

An LGBTQ “conversion” app, created by the Malaysian Government, has been removed from Google Play after it was found to violate Google Play guidelines.According to the Independent, the app falsely claims to help the LGBTQ community “return to the right path.”The app also included a 146-page e-book about the “true experience of a gay man who migrated during Ramadan to abandon homosexual behaviour.”In a statement to the Guardian, Google said, “Whenever an app is flagged to us, we investigate against our Play store policies and if violations are found we take appropriate action to maintain a trusted experience for all.”According to Human Rights Watch, “successive governments in Malaysia have employed anti-LGBT rhetoric as a political tool, calling on LGBT people to ‘change’ their gender identity or sexual orientation to ‘return to the right path’ or risk retribution.”This is not the first LGBTQ conversion app removed by Google Play.
