Former Home And Away star Johnny Ruffo has sadly passed away after a long battle with brain cancer. The Australian actor and singer, who was 35, first appeared as Chris Harrington in the popular soap Home And Away in 2013, two years after he reached the final of The X Factor in Australia.
A statement on his official Instagram read: "It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny." It went on to describe him as a "very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy".
In August 2017, Johnny announced that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer and was starting "aggressive treatment". The statement continued: "Johnny was very determined and had a strong will.
He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could." Among those mourning his death was Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown, who is a judge on Australia's The Masked Singer.
