Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has announced the heartbreaking news that his dad has passed away following a long battle with cancer.
The Mancunian soap star took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to his dad, who said was his 'best mate' and a 'true legend'.
Announcing his dad's death on Saturday afternoon, Jamie, 48, shared a black and white photo of the pair smiling for the camera, writing alongside it: "My best mate.
My hero. RIP DAD. A true legend. A sad day." Jamie, who plays Warren Fox in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, revealed his dad's prostate cancer diagnosis back in 2020 when he signed up to ITV's The Real Full Monty on Ice, which aims to raise awareness of cancers in intimate areas of the body, such as the prostate and breast. "We've had such an awful six months," he said at the time. "There must be so many people going undiagnosed [with cancer]." Jamie's friends have shown their support for the star after he announcing his dad's passing.
