HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued an update to everyone who did not receive their Child Benefit payment on Monday. Around half a million people were affected by an issue which meant that they did not receive their monthly payment as scheduled at the start of the week.

Child Benefit is worth £25.60 a week for an eldest or only child and £16.95 a week for any other children. However, HMRC has now confirmed that those who did not receive their Child Benefit payment on Monday will now get it later this week instead. Only one person can get Child Benefit for a child and there is no limit to how many children you can claim for. Child Benefit is paid at one rate for your first child and a lower rate for additional children.

It is usually paid once every four weeks on a Monday or Tuesday. From April 6 2024, anyone who earns below £60,000 will receive the full amount of Child Benefit.
