Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.The people of Hillhouse gathered to say farewell to a much-loved community stalwart at his recent retirement.William Harrison has been incredibly popular with locals, but has now decided to step back from McColl’s where he has worked for more than 14 years.The 67-year-old has done it all when it comes to being there for his community, even featuring as Santa and the Easter Bunny for children on many occasions.He first appeared behind the counter in 2006 and has welcomed locals with a smile and a blether ever since.And needless to say, he will be hugely missed at the shop by the Hillhouse community.William also works with the Link Housing Association.
