A teenager was assaulted by a machete wielding gang as shocked motorists drove by. The victim was rescued after one driver stopped and his brave passenger ran towards the attackers.
A gang of three masked men pounced on the teenager in a cul-de-sac off Marley Road, Levenshulme, Manchester. One witness said the victim was "lucky to be alive" as the attackers were slashing at him with a "huge" knife.
The incident happened on Monday this week in the early afternoon and the victim was taken to hospital with a head injury. In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2pm on 22 August, officers were called to attend an incident on Kersh Avenue, Manchester, where three males had attacked another male with a bladed weapon.
The victim was transported to hospital and later released after sustaining a non-life threatening head injury.
