The song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the Disney film Encanto is one of the most popular songs to ever be released from an animated movie musical, but it has no chance at winning an Oscar.
The song, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, just reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second-highest charting song in Disney history, behind only “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.
While the track seemingly is a shoo-in for Best Original Song at the 2022 Oscars, the song has no chance at winning the award. Click inside to find out why… The deadline for film studios to submit songs for consideration was November 1, 2021, a few weeks before Encanto hit theaters.
Instead of submitting “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” Disney decided to submit the song “Dos Oruguitas.” Clearly, they didn’t know how big of a hit the song would become!
