The beloved Encanto song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” will be performed at the Oscars this weekend, but it has no chance at winning the award for Best Original Song.
The song, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has reigned at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for many weeks, becoming only the second song in Disney history to reach that peak on the chart.
While the track seemingly was a shoo-in for Best Original Song at the 2022 Oscars, the song has no chance at winning the award. Click inside to find out why… The deadline for film studios to submit songs for consideration was November 1, 2021, a few weeks before Encanto hit theaters.
Instead of submitting “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” Disney decided to submit the song “Dos Oruguitas.” Clearly, they didn’t know how big of a hit the song would become!
