With temperatures across the country set to soar in coming days, some areas are expected to see temperatures reach over 30C thanks to hot air moving from Spain.
As temperatures in Northolt in west London reached 29.5C on Thursday, the week’s weather has surpassed the highest temperature recorded in 2022 so far.
But things are set to get even hotter today, and a sweltering high of 34C is expected in London and some parts of East Anglia, according to forecasters.
As a result, the Met Office has issued a level two heat-health alert for most of southern and central England, in addition to a level one alert for the north of England from Friday to Sunday.
