Heat-related deaths in the UK could triple in the next 30 years, to around 7,000 annually, according to a report. Scorching temperature caused by human-made emission driven global heating could soon put many Brits at mortal danger, a new report has found.

With more plus-30C degree days expected in the summer months, the elderly, babies and the unwell are likely to perish in far greater numbers than today.

The British Red Cross warns there is a dangerous perception gap in the UK when it comes to awareness of the risks posed by heat.

The charity has published a report called Feeling The Heat, which looks at how prepared the UK is for rising temperatures and how aware people are of the risks of heatwaves.
