A mum has spoken of her devastation after being told that her teenage son had died. For Shirley Whitworth, this was the second time that she'd been given the heartbreaking news of the death of a loved one over the phone.
Shirley's teenage son, Adam Kay, went under the water in the River Irwell last Tuesday and never came out, reports the Manchester Evening News.
A huge police operation followed, with specialist teams helping to search for the 14-year-old in Clifton Country Park in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Since then, Shirley, who lives in Kearsley, near Bolton, revealed she keeps expecting to see her son again as she struggles to come to terms with his death. "It's destroyed us," she said. "I just feel numb.
