David Fell was pulled from the sea in North Yorkshire after getting into difficulty in the water on Thursday (July 22). Emergency services, including the coastguard, were called to the tragic incident at Reighton Sands in Filey at around 2.45pm, Yorkshire Live reports.

Mr Fell grew up in Wigan and also played rugby league for Rochdale Hornets, as well as rugby union for Orrell. Most notably, he played for Salford Red Devils in the 1980s and 90s.
