Newcomer Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) has made quite an impression since she arrived in Emmerdale. Charles (Kevin Mathurin)’s mum first encountered Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) in the cafe and they locked horns straight away when Claudette refused to budge from the seat Manpreet had previously been sitting at.
When Claudette realised that the woman she’d had words with in the cafe was living with her precious son – ‘in sin,’ no less, as Claudette described their unmarried status – it was clear she was never going to be Manpreet’s biggest fan. ‘She’s old school, traditional, right and wrong.
The fact he’s living with Manpreet, she can’t get her head around it,’ Flo Wilson told us. ‘He says he loves her so as far as she’s concerned, if you love her you get married. ’Charles wanted to know how she’d lost the house she’d lived in for 40 years and why he hadn’t talked to him sooner, but she got more and more upset. ‘No more questions, please,’ she implored.
So it looks as though Claudette will be staying in the village for the foreseeable future. How will Manpreet and Charles handle having her there full time? And what’s the full story behind Claudette’s homelessness? For even more exclusive spoilers and interviews, sign up to Metro's Soaps newsletter.
