Harry Potter fans got some very exciting news about the TV retelling of the popular book and film series, which is currently in development at HBO.
The series was first announced in April 2023 and is expected to run for seven seasons. Each season will be dedicated to one of JK Rowling‘s novels.
A casting call went out for the young actors to play Harry, Ron and Hermione this September. Casting for other roles is still ongoing.
Despite that, the show is expected to enter production in just a few months! While attending the Max Showcase in London, England on Thursday (December 5), showrunner Francesca Gardiner and EP Mark Mylod provided a big update and some details about what to expect. Keep reading to find out more… According to reporting by Deadline, filming is expected to commence at Leavesden in the summer of 2025. Francesca teased that the series would have a “very very specifically British 1990s production,” adding that more than 32,000 stars auditioned to play the lead heroes.
