Actress Miriam Margolyes has openly discussed her struggle with spinal stenosis and has made a sombre prediction about her own mortality.

The 83 year old star, set to appear on Gogglebox for the Stand Up to Cancer Special, spoke of her health woes and her diagnosis of the condition which leads to the narrowing of the spine.

Reflecting on her declining physical abilities in an interview, she recalled telling those on set: "When I started kind of failing physically, I remember saying to directors and producers, please don't show me clambering out of a car or climbing upstairs on my hands and knees'," as reported by The Radio Times. "I didn't want people to see that because I was embarrassed to see myself looking so pathetic." According to the NHS, symptoms such as 'pain, numbness, weakness and a tingling sensation in one or both legs' are typical indicators of spinal stenosis, posing substantial challenges in mobility for sufferers.
