The role was previously played by Maggie Smith in the original film series. Meanwhile, Paapa Essiedu is said to be coming closer to signing on to the movie as Severus Snape.
The role was originally played by Alan Rickman, and Paapa was one of the first actors rumored to be tied to the show.
