Hamilton Asda community champion joins colleagues to help food distribution charity Fareshare

A Hamilton supermarket community champion joined colleagues to spend a day volunteering for a food distribution charity – ahead of a busy in-store collection drive next month.

Gillian Summers, who takes on the community role at the town’s branch of Asda, was among six staff from across the west of Scotland who saw behind the scenes at Fareshare’s headquarters in Glasgow.

They saw the process which donated items from their stores go through to reach local food banks, reducing food waste and supporting communities.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
