Hamilton Accies owner tables multi-million pound offer for New Douglas Park

Hamilton Accies owner Seref Zengin has made a multi-million pound offer to bring New Douglas Park under the club’s control.And the League One outfit expect to learn by the end of this week if their acquisition of the stadium has been successful.New Douglas Park remains in the hands of former Accies owner Colin McGowan and Edencrest Limited, who also have ex-Accies chairman Les Gray on their board of directors, according to Companies House.

But Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Zengin has tabled an offer in the region of £3m to £4m for the 23-year-old facility and hopes to have secured a deal that finally brings the club and stadium together.

In July last year, Zengin’s firm 1874 Holdings Limited took a 97.5 per cent share capital in the club and he was appointed chief executive.Since then, it has always been his intention to bring the stadium back under the club’s control.And the Bellshill businessman told supporters at a board meeting last week he hoped an announcement on the future of the stadium would be made by the end of this week.Earlier this month, Accies admitted initial discussions were taking place about a buy-out, but dismissed suggestions they would be ripping up the ground’s synthetic surface for a grass pitch.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
